CBCOC1 33, CBCOC/FV 30 CBCOC/FV rallied from an early deficit and was within a minute of the first victory in this defensive struggle, but they just couldn't close the deal against CBCOC1. CBCOC1 took the lead early in the first half as OC/FV once again had trouble offensively, but OC/FV's defense came up big after they switched to zone midway through the period. Despite scoring only 9 points in the first half, OC/FV was very much in the game as they held CBCOC1 to just 15 of their own. OC/FV clawed back in the second half, eventually taking a 4-point lead, but CBCOC1 rallied and held a 27-26 lead late.
OC/FV regained the lead on a nifty turnaround jumper in the lane from Sam Chi on a fast break with 2:45 left, and the score stayed that wasy for the next 1:43 as neither team could convert. Peter Yiu hit a jumper from the corner of the key with 1:02 left to extend the lead to 30-27, and OC/FV could almost taste the victory. But after a timeout, Ondrae Garcia hit a huge jumper for CBCOC1 to cut the deficit to one point. CBCOC1 then surprised OC/FV with a full court press, and OC/FV turned it over after Darryl Pesigan was able to deflect the ball off of Peter and out of bounds on the sideline. On the ensuing play, Ondrae was fouled while shooting a three-pointer and converted two of the three free throws to give CBCOC1 the lead at 31-30. CBCOC1 kept up the pressure, and OC/FV lost the ball out of bounds again while trying to get it past halfcourt. With under 30 seconds left, OC/FV was forced to foul to try to get the ball back, and Darryl converted two free throws to make the score 33-30 with 8 seconds left. OC/FV finally managed to break through the pressure to get ball into the frontcourt, calling a timeout with 4 seconds left to play. But disaster struck on the inbounds as Sam's pass to Quoc "Jumbo" Tran was wide, and CBCOC1 recovered the ball and ran out the clock for the win.
Tony Tung was the only player in double figures in this game, leading all scorers with 12 points for CBCOC1, while Darryl added 8. OC/FV was led by David Eng and Howie Chan with 6 points each. CBCOC1 captain and leading scorer Geoff Kutnick was shut out in this game, but it wasn't enough for OC/FV to earn the win.
